Introducing MVP Prereleases

One of MVP Disc Sports’ core beliefs has always been that our dealer network is our lifeblood – without them, we would not be where we are today. For us, they aren’t just a store where you go to purchase that new disc you’ve been waiting for, a basket to practice with at home, or a new bag to hold everything in. They support and grow the sport of disc golf in a myriad of other ways – from providing general product information, beginner instruction, all the way to running events for their local communities. In many ways, dealers are the heartbeat of their local disc golf scene.

We take the role that all of our dealers play in the sport very seriously, especially dealers who provide a physical space for their customers. We understand that it takes a monumental amount of work to make a physical store successful in 2025–rent, renovations, employees, and inventory; all of which are costs that aren’t staying stagnant. Considering these challenges and the benefits to the community that a local store brings, we’ve made it a priority of ours to ensure that local disc golf stores are supported to the absolute best of our ability.

With that in mind, we introduced the Brick-and-Mortar program, a way for MVP to grant dealers with physical storefronts access to exclusive stamps and occasionally even glow color options for select newsletter items. This program has received a lot of positive feedback, but we’ve gotten some constructive feedback as well. While the program has been a success, the feedback was clear – MVP could be doing more to drive excitement and foot traffic.

We’ve listened to that feedback, and we’re ready to unveil our next step in supporting our Brick-and-Mortar dealers. Introducing: Brick-and-Mortar Prerelease Dates. Release dates used to be days we all eagerly awaited – they’d bring palpable excitement to a storefront as a day of joy for the biggest fans out there. If you needed something first, showing up at your local dealer’s door was the best way to go about it. With the advent of pre-ordering taking over, not just the disc golf community but the ecommerce world in general, release dates slowly began to lose their excitement. In this new era, if you want things early and guaranteed, you simply place a pre-order and get it delivered right to your doorstep. The convenience of online shopping isn’t going anywhere, but we envision a world where release days at your local disc golf store can regain that feeling of excitement once more.

As such, we’re pleased to announce that there will be two release dates moving forward. Brick-and-Mortar Dealers will have a two-day head start on sales of new items thanks to the new Brick-and-Mortar Prerelease Date. If you need to get that product first, to get the exact disc you want as soon as possible, Brick-and-Mortar dealers will be the place for that. The Prerelease Date will be for all new items, including the Brick-and-Mortar Exclusive Products themselves. Brick-and-Mortar Prerelease Date for new August Newsletter items is for 9/17 at 7am Eastern Time.

For online and global sales of new items, there will be a Global Online Release Date two days after the Prerelease Date. If you value the convenience of online shopping, you’ll only have to wait an extra two days for those items compared to Brick-and-Mortar shoppers. The Global Online Release Date for our new August Newsletter items is 9/19 at 12am Eastern Time.

We believe that creating a Prerelease system will wind up benefiting all dealers in the long run by creating a renewed excitement for release days in general. It will level the playing field between the Brick-and-Mortar dealers and Online-Only dealers in the short term, but we see this as a net positive for our dealer ecosystem on the whole.
